Priority Health Total Health Foundation grants connect Detroiters to digital resources, fresh food, furnished housing
(DETROIT, Mich. – February 3, 2025) The Priority Health Total Health Foundation announces its latest round of grants totaling nearly $375,000 to six nonprofits working to improve the quality of life for underserved Detroiters by providing access to digital and mental health resources, a community garden and nutritious food, support for pregnant mothers and comfortable homes for single moms with dependent children.

Humble Design authors the “Furnishing Hope for Detroit’s Homeless Families” project with a goal to furnish 10 homes for mostly single mothers with dependent children. The grant will provide beds, bedding, couches, cookware, desks, books and toys, as well as school supplies to create a warm, welcoming home for these families.
Forever Faith Community Development Corp will break ground this spring on three vacant lots to plant a Forever Faith Community Garden in the Midwest Tireman neighborhood of Detroit. All members of the community will be invited to source fresh produce, as well as enjoy a beautiful community gathering place where they can learn about gardening and nutrition.
Capuchin Soup Kitchen partners with Cass.ai to provide a mental health AI chatbot called HOPE to guests who are experiencing mental health challenges but are unable to meet with a mental health professional. The text-based program uses AI-curated responses created by clinical therapists, psychiatrists and other mental health professionals
Rocket Giving Fund hosts the Pancakes, Puts & Prosecco event with all proceeds going to Connect 313 and its “Changing the Course” initiative to provide internet, devices and digital skills to Detroiters to facilitate digital empowerment. The event will include a Q & A panel with one of the PGA players followed by a breakfast alongside VIP guests.
Kids Kicking Cancer focuses this initiative in the culinary space calling it “Kicking it in the Kitchen” with an objective to educate children with illnesses and their families about the value of nutritious meals. The program includes active and real-time demonstrations either in person or virtually, as well as providing gift cards and grocery lists with recipe ingredients to participants.
Wayne State University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics expands its program to improve health outcomes for infants, children and families by addressing social determinants of health (SDoH). The expansion will enroll up to 50 families to a community health worker who will provide tailored support, referrals and follow-up.
Since 2020, the Priority Health Total Health Foundation has remained committed to the most underserved residents of Southeast Michigan by awarding more than $17 million in grants to nonprofits working to address the social determinants of health (SDoH) that impact overall health and well-being that include housing, food insufficiency, education, literacy and maternal/infant health.
