Recognizing excellence in care: Priority Health announces recipients of 2023 Quality Awards

(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — October 3, 2024) Priority Health has announced the recipients of the 2023 Quality Awards, which recognizes top physician offices that improve health care outcomes for patients across Michigan. From Detroit to Muskegon and Petoskey to St. Joseph, Priority Health has recognized providers at more than 380 practices throughout Michigan.

The awards are given to physicians who receive the highest overall scores through the Priority Health Primary Care Provider Incentive Program. Priority Health sets high targets, with practices needing to meet or exceed the national 90th percentile across 13 performance outcomes in preventive care and chronic disease measures, including cancer screening, immunizations and chronic condition management. Awards are based on performance throughout the previous calendar year, so awards presented in 2024 honor provider performance in 2023.

The program’s success is clearly demonstrated by the number of Priority Health members who received preventive screenings. In 2023, for example, more than 81% of Priority Health Medicare members received a routine colorectal cancer screening compared to a national average of 69%,* and 83% of Medicare members received a recommended breast cancer screening compared to the national average of 71%.*

This year marks the 37th anniversary of the Quality Awards. What started with recognition of 30 practices in 1986 has grown to recognize providers at more than 380 practices statewide. More than half of the award winners are in alternative payment model arrangements with Priority Health, which focus on providing value-based care and emphasize their commitment to high-quality, cost-effective care that prioritizes patient outcomes.
