Transportation services, Medicaid

Applies to:

Priority Health Choice plans: Medicaid, Healthy Michigan Plan

Definition

Priority Health directly administers Medicaid transportation services and partners with providers to meet the transportation needs of members enrolled in the Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP).

Transportation services coverage

When Medicaid and Healthy Michigan Plan members enroll in Priority Health Choice, they receive information on how to access transportation support. This information is shared with members through the Medicaid Member Handbook and COC and the Healthy Michigan Plan Member Handbook and COC, which are both mailed to the member and available to them here on priorityhealth.com.

Members also receive the Need a Ride or ¿Necesita transporte? informational flyers.

Member eligibility

For each transportation request, we confirm member eligibility and screening. This includes screening for MIHP enrollment.

MIHP expanded transportation coverage

Members who call our Customer Service representatives requesting transportation should share that they are enrolled in MIHP for expanded transportation support, such as rides to WIC, behavioral health and dental appointments.

MIHP-enrolled members may schedule trips 30 days in advance to better support those with frequent or recurring appointments, such as with high-risk pregnancy.

Transportation services offered

We are interested in expanding to lines of public transportation in our service area beyond those listed below. Contact our representatives below to discuss further. In addition, we are developing alternative MIHP transportation initiatives that allow for more MIHP provider flexibility to meet the transportation needs of members, including residents in rural communities. As these programs are established, we will share more detailed information.

Mileage reimbursement

Members should complete the mileage reimbursement form and mail or fax it to Priority Health. MIHP staff may provide the required provider signature on the form. Forms are processed weekly and members are sent a check reimbursing at $.66 per mile.

Bus tickets

Priority Health currently contracts with The Rapid in Grand Rapids and Macatawa Area Express in the greater Holland/Zeeland area for bus transport.

Members may call our main transportation number for bus tickets, which are sent by email.

Other types of transportation

Priority Health utilizes a network of transportation vendors for all other trips, which includes cab and specialty companies in all 23 counties we serve.
